Our Co-Founders and Members

Rick Henry:

President / Co-Founder & wrestling coach

The organization’s president, Rick Fitzgerald Henry was born in Jamaica and immigrated to Canada with his grandmother at an early age where he attended elementary school, high school, and The University of Guelph as a sociology major. Rick was diagnosed as legally blind in his early teens but still persevered his way through the university as a student athlete and team captain of the wrestling team. With dedication, focus, and drive, Rick represented Canada at the 1999 Pan American games in Greco Roman Wrestling and participated in the Olympic trials. Throughout Rick's wrestling career, team diversity was always constant and because of this Rick, his teammates, and coaches, learned how to cooperate and accept multiculturalism.

Charles “C.J.” Johnson:

Co-Founder & Coach

C.J. coached wrestling for 8 years at North Dallas High School before he branched off and formed “Future Champs of Texas / South Side Wrestling Club” with Co-Founder, Rick Henry.

The club conducts strategic wrestling instruction designed to teach young wrestlers how to wrestle physically, technically and mentally. Over the years, C.J. has developed an environment of excellence that provides elite competition for young wrestlers. Over the course of his coaching career (thus far), C.J.’s coaching techniques have developed 67 Regional qualifiers, 6 State qualifiers and 1 State Champion! Not to mention, 11 team members received full scholarships to attend great colleges and a host of other team members have attended college and/or the military.
